Prof. Stefania Gialdroni was invited by prof. Annamaria Monti to speak at the University of Milan in the framework of the MILHIS Talks series on 20 April 2026. On this occasion, she presented the lecture European Funding and Project Design in Legal Historical Research: The Experience of MICOLL.
The talk focused on the opportunities and challenges of European research funding in the field of legal history, with particular attention to the ERC-funded project MICOLL – Migrating Commercial Law and Language. Rethinking Lex Mercatoria (11th–17th Centuries). The discussion highlighted MICOLL’s interdisciplinary approach, combining legal history, historical linguistics, and digital humanities to explore the circulation of commercial legal concepts across Europe.
The event offered a valuable opportunity to reflect on the role of ambitious international research projects in advancing innovative perspectives within historical-legal studies.
